Fish, Fish, Fish

Fish Sculpture at Seafood Center, AstoriaThis photo shows only part of the intricate, multi-species fish sculpture outside the Seafood Research and Education Center of Oregon State University (shown here) and the Duncan Law Seafood Consumer Center, behind us and currently closed due to economic woes.

There is more to this statue, and I expect you'll see additional photos soon on this blog, and also the front of the Duncan Law Seafood Consumer Center.

This blog is sponsored by Tapir and Friends Animal Store.

It is so sad to hear of a place like this closing down due to lack of funds...we keep cutting back on education, welfare, etc., but still can find room for more tax cuts for the wealthy. Something wrong with that picture!

I'll look forward to seeing more of your photos of this statue...

Glad you're back safe and sound and I'm sure you had a super nice time!

I agree with Jacob on this one. The need for more research doesn't go away, but yet the funds do. After looking at their website it looks like quite a facility. I hope they can get up and running again soon.

I'm on this bandwagon as well. We are losing research facilities and cultural activities ... and our politicians vote themselves pay raises late at night!!!

Love the sculpture - can't wait to see more of it. I wonder how many fish there are? Did you count them?

Super fish,... sad the funding dried up, leaving these fish high and dry.
