Theme Day: "Big"

Auto Pack with Pilot Boat It's Theme Day (the first day of each month) at City Daily Photo. My entry from Astoria is a comparison of the tall auto pack Celestial Wing with the Arrow 2 pilot boat. If you click on the photo to enlarge it, you can also see a "tiny" human clad head to toe in bright orange gear. I think if I needed to be found in this environment, I'd also want to be wearing a bright color! Depending on the type of ship, the bay (I'm not sure what you call this part of the ship) that we see as a dark rectangle where the person is, may be higher above the water line. Of any of the ships that come up the Columbia River, the auto packs have the greatest distance from the water line to the top deck of the ship. I love the clean, glowing colors of the Honda line shown here.

Now that is big. Can you imagine walking from one end to the other? That would take a while. Nice choice for Theme Day.

Look at that boat: it's bigger than the one I posted! Very good choice for theme, color and composition.
Lots of auto pack even here, they look like shoe boxes but have far less grace...

Stunning and a super photo for the theme!

I remember the first time I saw one of these really big ships up close...I was dumbfounded. How could something that massive stay afloat?

Tapirgal: you hit the theme perfectly, contrasting big with small. If you really want to know big, stand at the bow of the tug and look up while both are moving!

@Lee, if you can get me on one of them, I will promise to be amazed!
