Wet

River Walk in the Rain, Astoria, Oregon I wonder how many people will show up for one of the last Sunday Markets of the year today? It could happen. After the squall, the sun came out and people were walking on the streets again, although the weather man shows T-storms and rain all day. On the river, the colors are indescribable, where you get the clouds, dark background, green water glowing in the sun highlighting a buoy, a stretch of the river, the green bridge. And then it changes in the blink of an eye. It should be interesting for viewers, but maybe not so for those having to set up tents with all their carefully hand-made or homegrown products . . . and keep them from getting wet or blowing away!

This photo shows a bit of the river walk outside of the Animal Store facing east toward the Maritime Museum, Custard King, and the park where I was bitten by fleas. I should emphasize, this is the walk, not the river. It only looks like a lake because of the super-heavy rain we had this morning.

Fleas? A doggy park? Yikes!

Dramatic photo, Sheryl! Liked your description a lot. And yes, it would be very discouraging for folks who worked so hard to get ready for the Market and then have that hard work go to naught!

I re-read to be sure: that's not the river!
Here not yet a drop of rain, shining sun, only a bit cooler at night.

Good photo to show what's been going on off and on here in Portland, too. We're so cool we've got the windows almost all the way down. In fact, we'll probably have to shut them when the sun goes down. Not that we can see the sun--it's raining. Oh, well, I know we'll have glorious flowers next spring!

Glad you enjoyed the Delta Park/Vanport post. I had the same reaction to TriMet's dragging their feet about including Vanport in the name.

And about being a new Oregonian, we love it so very much, too!

Maybe some of the human type people brought their canines or felines with them which then proceeded to infest the area with fleas?

Wow! You did get hit didn't you? Yesterday was off and on for us, but today it flat out poured buckets at times. I know. We were out shopping for last minute school supplies so we were in and out of the stores and the car about fifty times. Let's pray tomorrow is better.

I understand they canceled Sunday Market. Incredible downpours make Astoria such a dramatic and special place to be.
