Ghost cars at 14th Street

Night Scene at 14th Street and Marine Drive, Astoria, Oregon You can see their lights streaking by, but there's not much left of the cars. They seem to have warped into thin air here at 14th Street and Marine Drive. Click to enlarge the photo, and you'll see what I mean. We've seen a number of these buildings before in daylight. The bright windows on the left are from this building; I've shown various views of the tall Astor Hotel in four posts (is that all?); and on the right in the middle of the block is Gimre's Shoes. I've taken the photo from the landward end of Waterfront Park. The rails are where the Waterfront Trolley runs.

A very cool night shot-- although it was probably technically still afternoon, wasn't it?

What IS going on there? ;-) I always like to see intersections, so I'm quite happy with this excellent evening shot.

Nice night shot, Sheryl. I like these shots where the car lights leave a trail of color and that's all you can see of them.

Interesting picture! I just read where you were asked to be on the radio station's website -- what an honor. You are an asset to your beautiful community. Every time I visit your blog I want to take the drive North (from the Eugene OR area where we are now).

Cool shot Sheryl. You got the lighting right too. I'm jealous.

I really like the color of the sky in this shot. The lights actually are very soothing.

Nice lights, I like the ghost cars. We desperately need more of them...

In my capacity as a wanna-be astronomer I could start ranting about the equivalence between energy and matter (which by some stretch of the imagination could account for those ghost-like cars!) but I would immediately get the terms all mixed up so... better not.

Suffice to say that I'm fond of this colourful dusky sky.

Beautiful night view of your town like which we can imagine...that must be some tricks of Angel who came down from fairyland!

Very nice capture. You really have to enlarge it to get the full effect.
