St. Mary's Lintel
There's a stone bench in the garden behind the Flavel House near the corner of 8th Street and Exchange.
If you come close to it, you'll see that it says "St. Mary's Hospital, 1905." Apparently this was the lintel to the old hospital toward the other end of Exchange.
Here is the bench from the other side. In this photo, you can also see two benches and dark salmon flowers from this post. On the right is the corner of the Carriage House Museum.

I have been in that garden so many times, but have never gone up close enough to see this, thank-you!
The bench is fascinating indeed, but it's the green, green grass that got my attention!
Looks like a beautiful home with beautiful gardens/grounds. I also like that bench! Although I bet it gets hot.
What an amazing use for an old lintel - a bench! I really really like this idea! Now it is useful, instead of being in a landfill somewhere!
And what beautiful flowers and gardens! I haven't been there in years, I'm really really hoping this summer ...
That's a GREAT way to recycle it. I can sense it coming up on that other blog soon enough!
Pretty cool bench, Sheryl. I'll bet it appears on another blog in the near future, also!
Lovely place and really pretty photos.
Greetings:)
Kind of an interesting use for it.
The Flavel house and its grounds are so beautiful!!!
I hope you will post pictures of the Goonie-Fest this weekend! I dont think I will be able to make it that way, but do want to see what happens :)

A heavy duty historical bench, no doubt!
