Silver in the Air

July 27, 2004

Here's another photo from the archives. I've always loved it and thought I'd give it a showing today. Our weather has been similar, rain one minute and sun the next, but you never know when the light will do that special trick and turn the air into magic.

Photography is often encapsulated by the word, serendipity, which is, of course, why we carry cameras at all times!

This must have been one of those moments. I love the title; very apt. You've got so many cool shots of Astoria...I'd suggest 1) talk to Lisa Wilson at Telluride DP about making up a calendar and/or 2) print some of them and sell them at arts and crafts fairs around you area...

You'll become famous!

Splendid! I can see why you love it. It so perfectly captures the feel of the mighty Columbia at Astoria. Have never seen that bridge and river more strikingly rendered than with this image. Thanks for sharing!

Not only the air: the light on the water, the ship under the bridge and those magic sparkling clouds! Excellent image of a great view.

Everything is shimmering in this photo that should be in a book.

This reminds me, I keep threatening to mention to you...my very first childhood memory is of driving past Tongue Point into Astoria in the early 50's when there were hundreds of Navy ships mothballed there. I've only found one photo from the Maritime Museum. Anyone have any amateur land-based photos to share?

What an interesting bridge Astoria has. I know this bridge from the movie "Kindergarten Cop" ;)
