Park with Blossoms

Park with Blossoms, Astoria, Oregon - looking east
At the corner of Commercial and 6th is a small park made just for kids. At the moment, it's wearing cherry blossoms - or I believe that's what they are. This view is looking east along Commercial Avenue with the post office in the background.

It looks nice and warm out, but I'd gone back to the car for my jacket, although several kids and their parents were out playing on the sun.

Ah how lovely to play under the pink flowers!

I was amazed at how little people wore -barefoot in sandals, tee-shirts- while in the PNW. In the shade it was still pretty cool which I guess is perfectly normal for MARCH!

Sheryl - I'm an old timer from Astoria that found your blog about 6 months ago and have been following it ever since. I was born in Seaside and moved to Astoria in 1956. Graduated from AHS in 1969. I always view your photos with a sense of "what used to be there?" Is this the corner where the First Baptist Church used to be or am I off by a block? I can't remember for sure!

Hi Gayle,

Thanks for following and for commenting! The Baptist Church is still there. It's just out of sight in the shadows on the right, diagonally across from the post office. It's such an interesting building (the colors and the brick, too) that I've been meaning to post it and have not gotten a good photo yet. The facade is usually in the shade. I'll give it a try soon.

The Cherry trees have been spectacular this year. And the weather is warm any time the sun is out. LOL

We do have flowering trees here but not cherry trees. Darn! These are so pretty...and it doth look like a nice day, even if a bit cool out of the sun!

It looks like you're enjoying the same fair weather we have today. The cherry blossoms always say it's spring. Thanks for visiting Oakland Daily Photo and leaving a comment. I hope you come again.
