Yesterday afternoon Laurel called to tell me to get out and see the rainbow that was standing on end across the river. I saw it, but couldn't get it to come out with any color in my photo. The next instant I noticed what a change of lighting had done to the ships at anchor just up the river.
The lighting was just amazing. The ships were glowing, throwing golden fire on the water.

I would also like to introduce those on Facebook to a beautiful collection of photos by Kim Taylor called "Visually Hugging Astoria." She was our October contest winner, and she makes magic with her camera! Check it out.

How fabulous... these look really amazing, never seen anything like this!
Nice series. I like the last one best.
I usually love boats , and here they are magnified by this special and sooooo beautyful light..Great!
They actually looked like that? That really IS amazing & looks so cool! WoW! =)
La dernière photo est magnifique ! J'aime beaucoup ses couleurs !
Great colors. We know where it is, but would be difficult to say where the sea and the sky meet...
The way the last boat catch the light is really stunning ! I like the contrast between the cloud weather and this very unique sunbeam...
Spectacular night shots, especially the first one. I love them.
Congrats!
That's pretty wild. The sun caught them just right. I like the first picture best...looks like they're cruising up the river in formation.
And yes, I would expect you would have noticed the Christmas polar bear! :-)
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
P.S. The word verification today is "thober." So, I thought I'd let you know I intend to stay thober all weekend.
These are lit beautifully!
Wow!!! these are awesome pics. I love it when the light changes like this and illuminates things in the most beautiful way.
It pays to be always at the ready with one's camera.
Great job!
That really is amazing! Beautiful! I'm glad that you had your camera. :)
Beautifully captured, Sheryl...
fantastic light and images!!!
Love ships and shipping... having worked on the Seattle waterfront for 20 years... these are pleasing images, rarely would one think of a vessel as beautiful, but the light made them so!
