Garibaldi Crab Races

Garibaldi, Oregon ~ January 29, 2012

About 60 miles down the coast from Astoria, you can witness one of the country's most unusual races. I've never been to the crab races. Can anyone clue me in?

I didn't know that crabs were called Garibaldi! What an honor!:) I am following you from Rome, Italy. I am from Trapani, Sicily and we have Garibaldi's statue, Piazza Garibaldi, Via Garibaldi, everything named in his honor! He's our hero!

Hmmm. I've never even heard of a crab race. I do know, though, that crabs can race 'cause I've met a lot of crabby racers at the races Lois has run.

You know what you get when you cross a crab and an apple, right? You ought to see them race. It's so emotional - gets to you, right down to the core of your being!

Hey Sheryl--Long time no see---LOL!!!
Now you will have to go to Garibaldi and watch for yourself---you have plenty of time. MB

I've never heard of a crab race either. I do know however, that they can get from person to person in hurry, but I don't think that has anything to do with THIS race...

I don't know how you'd get them to line up or stay on track. But I guess it would be funny to watch!

Id worry about what would happen to the losers. Would they be in hot water?
