Anyone who loves fixer-upper houses has probably been drooling over this one for years. It's hard not to want to give it some TLC and make it nice again, but for that to happen, you have to have an owner who either cares about fixing it up or wants to sell it to someone who will. On the other hand, it's been around in its dilapidated condition for so long that it's become firmly entrenched in the lore of Astoria. Some people call it "The Halloween House." By the way, this is the yard where the deer from yesterday were feeding, and there's an interesting window photo (2nd picture) here.
This house also appeared in our photo contest last October. This photo shows the corner where the deer were feeding.

I can see past the peeling paint and see a wonderful soul in that house. I can just imagine what's inside.
I bet that once fixed up, no one would call it that anymore!

Yes, it could be a fixer-upper for somebody with a spare $10-20 million who's willing to wait for Miss Flavel to die (stubborn old bird that she is) since she's shown no sign of being interested in selling any of the properties. And there's no telling just how damaged the house is.
It clearly was a magnificent house once, but 25+ years of no maintenance has taken an obvious toll, raising deep concern for the hidden toll.
Are you sure the Adams family doesn't live there!
Harry(RIP) busted up a lot of the grand staircase and bannister for firewood
I dunno. I don't want it. Guess I'm not a fixer-upper. I want it fixed and up when I move in! But I can see it was something in its early days!
Beautiful old house. I don't think that kind of workmanship goes into houses anywhere anymore. Sad.
