Reflections in a glass store window

Reflections in a glass store window Astoria, Oregon ~ April 10, 2009

This diagonally-facing storefront on the corner of 7th Street and Duane Avenue used to be Oregon Glass or something like that. It's been vacant for at least several years. The reflected building on the right is the County Courthouse, and on the left is "The Goonies' Jail." I like the blue on the chipped wood panel of the boarded-up door.

I think you took a lot of pains to get a good shot of the "pains" on panes!

too bad the store isn't open to fix pains any longer, I could sure use some help:)

The blue door does have a lot of character and looks very interesting.

It makes you wonder why this building has sat vacant for so long. Is it really that tough to fill these places?

Do they close the shop for lack of pains?

Nice reflection, Sheryl. It is very sad to see shops shut down. There are several here in stanwood. but they will fill up again. We have to remember to be faithful to our small towns. MB

The County owns it, which is why it's sat empty for so long--the wheels of government turn slowly, if at all. The offices in the old jail will be relocated there so the Historical Society can use the old jail for tours.
