This image was taken of a Hawk using a driftwood teepee as his crows nest to survey the land. As I continued to creep up on him to get a better shot the hawk suddenly flew off and not far from me on the beach attacked a seagull! It was wrestling with the gull on the sand when a crow joined in on the fray. I tried to get close but some people in a truck also saw the action and decided to rescue the struggling gull. My instincts were to let Mother Nature take its course (the gull may have been sick; the hawk may have had newborns to feed; or maybe the hawk was just young and not sure what to hunt). There were a lot of hawks and eagles gliding over the grassy fields near the Jetty this afternoon -- I've never seen so many in one place before.
