Ruby Tuesday: Red, white, and gray

I love bright foregrounds against a dark sky. I took this photo in our Safeway parking lot the other morning. The dumpster is usually not parked here where a path leads from the lot to the River Walk, but this morning someone had left it here, and the bright red was perfect, caught in a brief beam of sunlight. It's surprising how fast the clouds move, changing the atmosphere and changing it again. Beyond the parking lot is the new Comfort Suites Columbia River, where you can be kept awake all night listening to sea lions barking. I haven't needed to stay there and it looks nice. I'd probably like hearing sea lions all night.

Ruby Tuesday gave me an excuse to use this cool dumpster photo. Maybe tomorrow I'll post the boats!

The great thing about photography, when a dumpster becomes a work of art! I love that it makes us more aware of the little things in our world! Nice capture!

That is such a great shot! Love the seagull.

I usually stay at the Red Lion so I can look at the bridge. Ah.. to be in heaven.. or Astoria as you call it! :)

I like this. A lot! Ordinary scenery of every day life but yet so beautiful. I'd loose that piece of lamppost at the right thou. Minor detail, this is GREAT photo!! Happy RT! :)

Thank you, and you're right about the lamp post. I was so frustrated last night trying to work on photos while the PC was doing a big backup, I just posted it. Will fix and re-upload now. I should really set that backup for later in the wee hours of the morning. I'm sure my computer guy didn't realize that when I get hooked on photos, the time just flies.

Your photo makes me yearn for a return visit to Astoria. The gulls look like they have found some very fine pickins'.

What a great shot. It has so much drama in the sky and then the wonderful red with the seagulls. Lovely shot.
