On the Riverwalk

Taken on December 27, 2012. This is a picture of  the bridge in the back ground but also as my sourses tell me I think it is an oven from a factory that burned down.

By the Google Earth, maybe I could find the point where you took this photo. Also I could imagine a lady who are walking along riverside and enjoying her good time with... ;)

Another well-composed photo, Jessie. The "oven" is intriguing. Perhaps you'll find out what kind of factory sometime in the future.

I believe it is actually a boiler to generate steam for the retorts in a cannery building that burned down.

There were many wooden buildings that housed fish canneries lining the Astoria waterfront at the turn of the last century

When the Bumble Bee cannery was in operation and they cracked the retorts cooking tuna the entire town smelled of cooked tuna.

The cannery that burned down here was a salmon cannery. The retort cooked the cans after they were filled with salmon. When it burned it was not in production and had been empty of equipment with the exception of the boiler.

I always wanted to live in a city with a riverwalk. Glad to see that you are out and about again. Hope 2013 brings you great things and most importantly good health! :)
