Here's another photo from the afternoon at Dismal Nitch. It's not as blue as "Blue but Not Dismal," because I'm closer to the subject, although it's still quite a distance. This is the low part of the bridge as it approaches Washington. Where it passes under the bridge, the shipping channel hugs the Astoria side of the river, so this part of the bridge doesn't need great height.

Very interesting composition ... it almost looks like pieces of the bridge and the boat are going to collide! That's one big river.
Re your comment on Paree: That's not my purse, silly! That was a bag in which I carried a baguette, cheese, chips, etc. which we proceeded to eat sitting on a bench along the Seine!
