West Bond Street
I love Astoria's houses. Almost every one has some sort of unique architectural detail, whether it be windows such as these with the long panes at the top, or simply the way the elements are combined. It looks like a small Victorian to me. I know our Finnish houses here are more austere and flat. What I don't know is what happened when the two styles met. Maybe this is it. The top story is pretty plain.

Was Astoria originally a Finnish Town?
Hi Sheryl, It is good to hear from you again. Of course you haven't heard from me either. LOL! Wasn't it nice to see S. this past summer. She told me what a delight you are although I already knew that. Do you still see Lee? He seems to have dropped off the face of the earth also.
I hope you are feeling better and life is good to you. MB
These western style houses are called Yokan in our country and could be seen during 60-70's around uptowns in Tokyo when I was a boy. You know, those were our longing houses. Men were looking intelligent and women were very elegant, and we thought they had those custom to have afternoon tea every day and had a geogous piano could be litestned everyday....l fell homesick!
The top story is, indeed, pretty plain, but it has a dish!
I like these kinds of houses, also...very much. Don't build 'em like this anymore. And in Florida, we really need concrete block construction what with the hurricanes.
Have a wonderful day as you out and about!
You are right, these house are adorable, even more for someone confined to a small apartment.
I love those clapboard houses!
