Timber!
Port of Astoria, Pier 1 ~ February 21, 2013
Astoria is still a timber town! This is a stack of lumber at Westerlund's. These logs are headed overseas in the next week. Cruise ships berth nearby when passing through and tourists love seeing the logs stacked along our pier. One of the things that make Astoria enduring is that it is still a working town.

I don't remember trees near any of the Piers. Where is Pier 1? Interesting post!
A powerful and dramatic photo!
Tapirgal -- the trees are an optical illusion. This shot is taken at Pier 1. The trees are actually on the hillside beyond the log yard. They just look closer than they are in this photo.
Cyndi, it works!
