Astoria, Oregon ~ January 15, 2013
This house on Irving between 9th and 10th is the companion to yesterday's post. In yesterday's second photo, the two old Victorians looked deceptively close together.
Hilly streets and sidewalks are part of the landscape.
I thought the treatment of the lintel over the walkway was inventive.
This old house has a nice warm sun in the points of the eaves. I don't remember what you call this part of the house.

I love these beautiful homes. :)
ReplyDeleteAstoria has such lovely houses. I love the sun (I don't know what that part of the house is called either, but it's a very nice close-up). :-)
ReplyDeleteSame blue sky here but nothing so pretty!
ReplyDeleteVictorian houses are beautiful! This small one is really cute.
ReplyDeletelove the scalloped shingles
ReplyDeleteHouses like this one are only a dream in our crowded places...
ReplyDeleteBuilders put so much thought into design. You have to look far and wide for this in new construction.
ReplyDeleteI would so love to live in a house like that! What character. :)
ReplyDeleteThat last part of the house is called the "thingamajig." I love these old places. I also know it takes a lot of work to keep them up. Especially with the weather you get up there. Hope things are going well for you...
ReplyDeleteIt's very beautiful and quite intriguing...I would probably enjoy living there. Different than most Florida homes, for sure!
ReplyDeleteI shall be sending photos soon...
What beautiful homes and backdrops. You live in a lovely part of the country!
