A Sight for Sore Eyes

Astoria, Oregon ~ February 6, 2012

I find the pilot boats a joy to look at any day. The bright orange Columbia caught my attention this morning, and I'd never realized until I saw my photo that she was shiny turquiose below the waterline.

  1. It does stand out quite a bit against the water and the trees. It does seem like a friendly little boat!

  2. Sure is a nice composition and I am glad it is painted in bright colors. Probably needs to be seen during those many drab days on the river.

  3. The best thing about this gorgeous photo with the gorgeous colors (including that little sliver of shiny turquoise) is that it is a "helping" boat...

Re your comment on Florida Fotos: Yes, I believe the white house has been renovated and made into someone's residence. I also believe that it was at one time a bank or something like that.

I've had Blogger and AOL do all kinds of crazy things of late. I can be typing and all of a sudden I'm on another blog or back to where I started.

Very frustrating. I don't know that my keyboard has ever just disappeared, though.

    Doing OK?

  5. They use helicopters routinely, not only when the bar is rough. It depends on the pilots preference and whether the ceiling allows the helo to fly.
Their new helo is now in operation and is bright yellow and can be seen here http://www.photoblog.com/liveandletlive/2012/06/25/i-love-my-job.html
