Astoria, Oregon ~ April 5, 2011
It's unusual to see the pilot boat Columbia working on the part of the river near downtown Astoria. Usually we see the smaller green and white Arrow 2. The Columbia is made for the harsher conditions of the ocean. You can read about the various pilot boats by clicking on the labels below. That beautiful blue color is belongs to one of my favorite shipping lines, Honda, and you can guess what's inside. This particular ship's name is Celestial Wing.
It really give you an idea of the enormity of the ship! Great colors.
ReplyDeleteNice capture, Sheryl. Great colors!
ReplyDeleteinteresting! nice shot, Sheryl! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you're back! I like the looks of this pilot boat. Maybe the Arrow 2 is on vacation? ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful orange and white against the blue...nicely done!
ReplyDeleteI'm a little sleepy this morning but it took me awhile to figure out what that was behind the Columbia!
ReplyDeleteGreat colors. They're the Univ. of Florida colors.
Wait, what do I care? I'm an ASU alumnus!
Beautiful complimentary colors, pleasing composition with the unexpected surprise of scale... I worked on the Seattle waterfront for nearly 20 years... these ships are huge...
